Dr. Renato A. Neves, was one of the first surgeons in Brazil to perform phacoemulsification cataract surgery in 1993 and refractive LASER surgeries in 1997.
Dr. Neves has performed more than 50,000 laser surgeries and 15,000 cataract surgeries and has trained several surgeons in the use of phaco and the excimer laser.
Dr. Neves graduated as an MD from the Federal University of Sao Paulo, where he continued his studies as a resident and received the MS and Doctoral Degrees.
He was a post doctoral fellow at Harvard Medical School – Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1993-94, specializing in Cornea and Immunology.
He has contributed more than 200 articles, abstracts and reports to professional journals and delivered more than 100 invited lectures on five continents.
He was also a Professor in the Post-Graduation Ophthalmology Department at UNIFESP
He is an International member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, He also is a member of the international Society of Refractive Surgery, and the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
He is also the owner and director of Instituto dos Olhos and the Aging Eye Institute.

Dr Neves is the president and founder of the Eye Care Foundation in 2001 giving free eye care to more than 50000 brazilians in the last 11 years.
